Hello lovelies,
It’s the weekend again; my how time flies. Today’s post is a simple tutorial on how to transition your makeup look from day to night.
So the scenario here is that you’re off to work but have a gathering or event to attend right after BUT want to spice up your look. Here’s just a few simple things you can do:
Daytime Look
Eyes
- Wear soft colours on your eyelid during the day to contrast the look you’ll do later on. Think soft pinks, browns or even a tiny bit of gold will work. If using gold, go for a Satin finish as Frost can be too dramatic for daytime/office wear.
- Apply a bit of brown in your crease to define it; choose a shade that works for your skin tone.
- Line your water line with a brown pencil
- Apply a coat of mascara
Face
- Apply your foundation and powder
- Apply a soft shade of blush
Lips
- Line your lips and apply a gloss or soft shade of lipstick
Evening Look
Eyes
- Apply a darker shade of eyeshadow in the outer ‘V’ of your eyes and blend into the crease slightly; you can use dark brown or black shadow for this
- Deepen the colour on the eyelid in the same shade you used earlier, or you can apply a similar colour in a different Finish if you like
- Apply black liner on your top and bottom water line
- Using a pencil brush or smudger brush, apply a bit of the same dark shadow you used in your outer ‘V’ and smudge it gently to soften
- Line the top of the eyes near the lash line to create a cat eye or smudge a bit of black shadow in this area instead
- Apply mascara liberally
Face
- Clean up under the eyes with a bit of concealer, this will also brighten the eye area
- Touch up foundation if necessary
- Set the face and remove shine with a bit of pressed powder
- Apply a bit more blush and contour if you have time
Lips
- Line lips and apply a complimentary shade of lipstick that does not clash with the rest of your makeup
I hope you enjoyed today’s post; I will follow up with another one showing the transition via photos as I do each step.

Today I’ve got a great post demonstrating various looks that can be altered in different ways to appeal to everyone. Keep reading for ideas on what to do if you’re heading out this Valentines day or any romantic evening for that matter!
Before we begin, I’d like to say a special thank you to my husband, Valentine and photographer Mark Gangasingh of Visual Storytelling, and also my wonderful model Vielka Salvador.
CUTE & GIRLY
This look was very simple to do and included the following:
- On the eyes – I applied Urban Decay’s Naked Palette 1 shadows in Naked and Buck; Maybelline New York Great Lash mascara in Black
- Eyebrows – Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder in Taupe and MAC eyebrow pencil in Spiked
- Face – Sacha Cosmetics Kamaflage foundation in Perfect Caramel and setting powder in Perfectly Translucent
- Lips – Revlon’s Matte Super Lustrous lipstick in Sky Pink and L’Oreal’s Infallible 6 HR Never Fail Lipgloss in Blush
- Cheeks – Sacha Cosmetic Perfectly Pink blush and Makeup Forever dark brown contour powder
SMOKEY SOFT
This look was a variation of the first, and was achieved by making the following changes:
- On the eyes – Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette shadows in the colours Naked, Creep and Gunmetal ; Makeup Geek shadow in Corrupt; false lashes and an additional coat of Maybelline New York’s Great Lash mascara in Black
- Cheeks – I deepened the contour in the hollow of the cheeks using MAC’s bronzing powder in Matte Bronze
- Lips – The pink lipstick was removed and I simply added a bit of L’Oreal’s Infallible 6 HR Never Fail Lipgloss in Blush
SIMPLY CHIC
This look is a bit more daring and was achieved by making the following changes:
- Eyes – all of the eyeshadow was removed and I drew a thin line near the lashes using Stila Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in the colour Black, on the water line I applied Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in the colour Perversion and then applied more of the Maybelline New York Great Lash mascara in Black
- Cheeks – I deepened the contour in the hollow of the cheeks using MAC’s bronzing powder in Matte Bronze
- Lips – MAC lip liner in Mahogany, Sephora Cream Lip Stain in #03 Strawberry Kissed and on top of that, MAC’s Lip Conditioner in clear
GLAMOUR GIRL
For this last look, we did the following:
- Eyes – I applied Urban Decay Naked Palette 1 shadows in Naked, Buck, Creep and Gunmetal as well as an additional coat of Maybelline’s New York Great Lash mascara in Black
- Lips – On top of the Sephora cream lip stain I applied L’Oreal 8 HR Infallible Legloss in #315 Rebel Red
I hope you enjoyed this post!
